Mary Jane’s Last Stand – Part 5: MJ vs. Pain

Speaking of husbands and wives – fucking Utah.

In 1998, about 40 000 people living in Utah were part of a polygamist family (also known as “Plural Marriage”… which I would think would just be called “Marriages”… but what do I know).

As of 2008, there were no more Federal laws AGAINST polygamy. All 50 states technically have laws about it, but as Utah has proven, they work around that like they work around asking their many wives “How was your day?”.

Romance is hard. Love is hard. And according to divorce stats, marriage is REALLY hard.

Utah is also one of the few States that has deemed marijuana completely illegal. So how is a state, that still has a massive amount of polygamy, gonna outlaw medicine that can help to calm a person’s anger and anxiety and stress level? It’s damn near impossible to for a guy to not annoy or anger ONE woman (because we kinda suck). How is ANYONE supposed to keep two or three or fourteen wives happy?

It just sounds like a real pain…

And speaking of pain, chronic pain such as fibromyalgia, arthritis, and even Multiple Sclerosis can be treated and improved with marijuana. Marijuana reduces pain, reduces inflammation, and promotes sleep – which is seriously the only sort of job promotion worth striving for (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/06/08/can-medical-marijuana-help-arthritis_n_873189.html).

And, to reduce the possibilities of a raised heart-rate or coughing attack from the act of smoking (both of which can unfortunately increase pain levels), you can get the beneficial aspects of marijuana in pill form.

In regards to people suffering from MS (http://www.reuters.com/article/us-marijuana-sclerosis-idUSBRE84D0RS20120514), the THC can bind to receptors in the nerves and muscles to help relieve pain. It can also help to control the muscle spasms (same reason it can help with tremors and seizures).

About 41 out of every 100,000 Americans is diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis. There are around 1.3 million Americans afflicted with it (http://www.healthline.com/health/rheumatoid-arthritis/facts-statistics-infographic).

It’s estimated that at least 5 million Americans suffer from fibromyalgia (https://www.niams.nih.gov/health_info/fibromyalgia/fibromyalgia_ff.asp).

And there are roughly at least 400,000 cases of MS (with another 200 new cases diagnosed each week) in the U.S. (http://www.healthline.com/health/multiple-sclerosis/facts-statistics-infographic).

That’s roughly at least 6.7 million Americans suffering from just these 3 specific, painful, debilitating disorders.

That’s more than 6 million lives that could be improved immensely by medicinal marijuana.

That’s nearly 7 million people that the Federal government would rather let suffer (Or, technically label them as criminals if they try to alleviate their suffering through worthwhile medicine) because of archaic laws that were only put in place decades ago due to systemic racism (look it up!).

You add those 6.7 million people to the tens (and maybe even hundreds) of millions of people that are affected by any of the other issues discussed in the previous articles, and you have a severely large case of the Federal government not giving any level of fucks regarding the well-being of its citizens. That is NOT acceptable.

Now where did I put my flamethrower…
